An Overview of Egyptian Beauty Ritual - Spa Reveil Austin

Last updated 7 years ago

Our world today is built upon what the ancient civilizations gave us. But democracy and architecture aren’t all they left us. They also had many beauty secrets that are still effective.

Their secrets were about using natural products to stay beautiful, since they didn’t have the kind of brand-name beauty products that we rely on now. Using cocoa butter instead of a lotion that contains cocoa butter, for instance, can bypass other chemicals that may damage your skin more than help it.

The Egyptians themselves had many natural substances to turn to: balanos oil, behen oil, almond oil, Fenugreek seeds, and even milk. Their soaps were made from animal and vegetable oils and salt.

Even their eye makeup, called kohl, kept them healthy as well as beautiful. One ingredient in kohl—galena—is thought to have provided some protection for the eyes from the sun’s rays.

They had a treatment for wrinkles, as well, that involved a waxy combination of frankincense, moringa oil, ground cyprus grass, and fermented plant juice.

At Spa Réveil, we’ve combined some elements of Egyptian beauty and skin care secrets into our Egyptian Beauty Ritual. The ritual begins with a rich mousse bath in milk proteins and marine collagen, and continues with a silk body wrap with grape seed extract, which moisturizes and softens the skin. Then, the ritual concludes with a scalp and Swedish massage for total relaxation. The result is healthy, youthful skin and a renewed and relaxed mind.

But our services don’t end there. We have an extensive spa menu including our Signature Global Rituals, Moroccan Bath, Detoxifying Seaweed Therapy, Hot Stone Massage, Pregnancy Massage, Spa Packages, Manicures, Pedicures (using olive oil therapy to nourish the skin back to health), Couple’s Massage, Men's Spa Packages, Microdermabrasion, and Enzyme Facial. You can check out our exclusive offers for great deals, too. Contact us to make an appointment today!
