How Do Plant Stem Cells Nourish the Skin?

Plant stem cells are located in the meristems of a plant. These cells are also referred to as totipotent stem cells, because their regenerative powers help to stimulate plant growth. When these cells are applied to human skin, they have the ability to both soothe the skin and slow the signs of aging

  • Wound Tissue

Scientists have discovered that stem cells found in the wound tissue of plants can help individuals improve the vitality of their skin. When concentrated plant stem cell cultures are applied to human skin, they have been shown to increase collagen synthesis, improve skin hydration, and enhance skin elasticity.

  • Echinacea Angustifolia

Not only do stem cells from the Echinacea angustifolia plant stimulate the body’s synthesis of collagen, but they also inhibit collagenase, an enzyme responsible for breaking apart skin collagen and eventually decreasing the firmness of skin. Individuals who have used these stem cells have found that they help add volume and firmness to the skin.

  • Buddleja Davidii

The Buddleja davidii plant is native to Eastern Asia, where it is commonly used to help individuals heal skin wounds. Stem cells in this plant have been shown to fight signs of aging by inhibiting the enzyme metalloproteinase. At the same time, these skin cells can increase the lipid barrier protection in an individual’s skin.

  • Helichrysium

Helichrysium stem cells have strong anti-inflammatory agents, which can help strengthen the capillary walls and protect the body against broken blood vessels. In doing so, these stem cells help nourish the skin and help it retain its youthful, undamaged glow.
