Everything You Need to Know about Vichy Therapy

Last updated 4 years ago

Vichy Therapy is a hydrotherapy that enhances blood circulation and improves the elasticity and vitality of the skin. This therapy combines a Vichy shower with body exfoliations and wraps, which together energize the mind and body. Read on for more information on the Vichy therapy process.

The Wet Room
Vichy therapy takes place in a wet room, which is usually completely tiled from floor to ceiling. This is similar to a bathroom, with the addition of floor drains. The client lies on a comfortable bed to undergo treatment. The Vichy shower is a horizontal rod with holes in it that allow water to rain over the client. The rod is located about four feet above the treatment bed.

The Process
The Vichy shower is a relaxing, revitalizing treatment. It is designed to alternate pulsations of hot and cold water over the client’s body. This offers many health benefits, such as improving the elasticity and vitality of skin and improving blood circulation. Throughout the therapy, water pressure is adjusted so the client feels a pleasant raining sensation over her body. The therapist uses a control panel to regulate water flow, pulsation, and temperature.

The Atmosphere
Once the therapist has set the controls properly for the client, the lighting is adjusted to create a relaxing atmosphere. The client is surrounded by gentle music as relaxing essential oils burn nearby. The client can have peace of mind while relaxing, as she is never left alone, even after the controls have been set and the therapy is underway. The Vichy shower treatment can be used in combination with other relaxing therapies; a client might undergo a body treatment and then rinse in the Vichy shower before undergoing her next therapy.
